 NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEME

We are extremely proud to be part of the National Garden Scheme, which gives visitors unique access to over 3,600 exceptional private gardens in England and Wales, and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.

Thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors the National Garden Scheme has donated over £70 million to nursing and health charities, and made an annual donation of £3.4 million in 2023. Founded in 1927 to support district nurses, the scheme is now the most significant charitable funder of nursing in the UK and its beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.

The National Garden Scheme doesn’t just open beautiful gardens for charity – it is passionate about the physical and mental health benefits of gardens too. The scheme fund projects which promote gardens and gardening as therapy, and in 2017, launched its annual Gardens and Health Week to raise awareness of the topic.

PLANT HERITAGE

We are equally proud to be a member of Plant Heritage, the world’s leading garden plant conservation and research charity. This national organisation is committed to the conservation of cultivated plants in the British Isles.

We hold the National Plant Collection for Geum coccinea and Geum rivale cvs. awarded by the Plant Heritage Plant Collections Committee in June 2024.

A National Plant Collection is a registered and documented collection of a group of plants. With the support of Plant Heritage we aim to conserve species Geums and other Geum cultivars for the benefit of future generations, and to build and share our knowledge of this collection.

Our National Plant Collection will be available for people to view, either by appointment or as part of open days to the public organised through The National Garden Scheme.

OUR GARDENS

Our gardens extend to two acres including five cut flower gardens brimming with colourful bulbs, annuals, biennials and perennials. Each year we introduce new varieties of flowers and foliage to generate constant interest and surprise. The gardens face south and offer spectacular views down the Limpley Stoke valley.

Other special features include terraced lawns, a box parterre, a small orchard, meadow flowers and a National Plant Collection of Geum coccinea and Geum rivale cvs. The gardens offer a floral experience for garden lovers, Geum enthusiasts, artisan florists, flower arrangers and anyone interested in the revival of beautiful, diverse, locally grown, British cut flowers.

Our garden will be open by arrangement in support of The National Garden Scheme and Plant Heritage during the month of May 2025. Admission price is £5 for adults, children are free. There will also be home-made teas and plants for sale. Please email maria@thebathgreenhouse.com for further information.

OUR VALUES

Sustainability

Our business is built upon strong principles which keep the environment at its heart. Responsibility to our planet is a leading priority and, as such, we grow the majority of the flowers that we use, closely follow organic farming methods and present our flowers using environmentally friendly packaging.

Many thanks once again for the beautiful flowers, which were just what I needed and beautifully conditioned and presented.
